Around the holidays, we all have those certain cravings from sweet treats to crispy, salty snacks. This season, we’re learning to overcome these cravings thanks to these tips shared by celebrity nutritionist, Kimberly Snyder, in her new book The Beauty Detox Power!
Overcome sweets by eating more whole, ripe fruit, which satisfy our natural desire for sweets in the most nourishing way. Choose organic whenever you can and if you are just beginning to reintroduce fruit into your diet, choose fruits that are lower in sugar, such as grapefruit, raspberries, green apples, blueberries and blackberries.
For a quick fix to fight chocolate cravings, you can take a quick sniff of some fresh coffee beans. The pyrazine contained in the coffee’s odor will affect your brain’s pleasure center much like the odor of chocolate does.
Skip snacking on salty, crunchy foods and keep crunchy veggie sticks around for a healthy way to chomp out frustrations. You can even enjoy the veggies with salsa or Zucchini Beauty Sauce, a recipe found in Kimberly’s book, if you feel the need to emulate your previous chip-and-dip habit!
