Thinking about taking a bite out of the Big Apple? You wouldn’t be the only one. In 2017, over 60 million tourists flocked to the city, and the figure had risen annually for each of the eight years before that. And there’s a good reason for it, too.
There’s also a good reason why Frank Sinatra called it the city that never sleeps. In fact, there’s so much to do in the city that three days is hardly enough, but if you plan your journey right, you can at least guarantee that you’ll make the most of your time there.
And so without further ado, here’s what we’d suggest getting up to during your trip to New York City.
3-day NYC itinerary
Day #1
On your first day, after checking into your hotel, you’ll probably want to throw yourself into city life by taking a stroll along Broadway, grabbing some proper Italian pizza and visiting either Times Square or Central Park if you can squeeze them in. Both locations are so iconic that you’ll want to go and visit them just so that you can say that you’ve been.
In the evening, consider heading back to Broadway to catch a play (although you’ll want to book your tickets in advance), and if that’s not your thing then you could experience some of the bars and the city’s nightlife. If you love live music, you’ll be sure to find something to suit you, and with huge swathes of the city up and open until the early hours of the morning, there’ll be something to do if you decide to leave the hotel.
Day #2
This will be your main day to see whatever it is that’s brought you to the city in the first place, and we’d recommend getting up early so that you can make the most of your day. If you’ve always wanted to visit the Statue of Liberty or to scale the Empire State Building, now’s your chance! It’s a good idea to book each of the things that you plan to do in advance because it’ll help you to save money and more importantly, it’ll help you to structure your day.
Day #3
On your last day, it’s time for you to tick off anything that you might have missed. If you haven’t done your souvenir shopping yet then this would be the time to get it done, and you can also leave this time free when you’re planning so that if you don’t get a chance to see something you want to see, you can squeeze it in here.
And is there a better way to leave the city than by sea? If you’ve ever wanted to take a cruise from NYC, now’s your chance! There is a whole heap of destinations for you to choose from, and there are also plenty of different cruise providers who have specialist offerings, ranging from OAP cruises to party cruises for bachelor parties. There’s something for everyone!
Conclusion
Now that you know what you need to know when creating a three-day New York itinerary, it’s over to you to make things happen. Remember to pack light so that you have plenty of room to take gifts back with you, and consider taking a camera if you have one because there’ll be plenty of photo opportunities that you won’t want to miss. Happy travels!
