When I was younger, I didn't mind the hair on my body because it was light and not very noticeable. But as I got older, the hair on my legs, underarms, and face got darker and thicker. I had to shave every day to keep my skin smooth and healthy, which was both time-consuming and costly. I had to buy razors, shave gel, and moisturizers to take care of my skin after shaving.
Recently, a friend told me about IPL hair removal devices. I wasn't interested in getting professional laser hair removal, but now I had the option to do it at home. I did some research and tried a few IPL devices. In this article, I'll share my real experience with two popular ones: Ulike Sapphire Air 3 and Tria Beauty's Hair Removal Laser 4X.
Introducing Tria Vs Ulike IPL Hair Removal Devices
Tria IPL Hair Removal
One of the well-known companies, Tria Beauty started their journey in 2003. They aim to turn a laser for removing hair professionally into a handheld, user-friendly gadget that gives lasting results. The Tria 4X is their latest machine that helps get rid of unwanted hair by using lasers. It's safe to use at home because it has been approved by the FDA and recommended by dermatologists. Compared to other hair removal methods like IPL, the Tria 4X is more powerful and promises results after 8 treatments. You have to use it once every 2 weeks for 4 months. How long it takes to see results can vary depending on your skin color and hair. The Tria has a small window that focuses the laser on the right spot, making it just as good as its competitors, Philips Lumea and Braun Silk. This device sends out strong laser energy that goes deep into the hair follicles and stops the hair from growing back.
Features:
Works 4 times better than an IPL device.
The 4X has a special screen with lights that show you how to use it for your treatments, making it safe and effective.
The Tria Laser 4X is great for treating different parts of your face and body because it can work for 30 minutes before needing a recharge.
Dermatologist tests have shown that the Hair Removal Laser is approved by the FDA as safe and effective.
Ulike IPL Hair Removal
Ulike as a company, it offers a safe and effective long-term hair removal solution for both men and women. This company began its journey in 2013. Their previous IPL device was Ulike AIR+ and the latest Ulike Air 3 is the upgraded version of AIR+. This IPL hair removal device is a lightweight, easy-to-hold wand that's shaped for comfort. It's been praised in beauty magazines like Bazaar and Elle for giving you safe salon-quality results at home. This FDA-cleared device has a special feature that cools it down to 58 degrees Fahrenheit, so hair removal doesn't hurt as much. It also has 3 different settings for treating different parts of your body and it's powerful enough to work on both fine and stubborn hair on your body and face.
Features:
Lightweight and easy to take with you on trips.
Make your sessions super quick by using thumb-free auto glide mode.
Significant results are provided in just 3 weeks.
Offers an unlimited number of flashes that last for infinity.
You will find it easy to use even in tricky areas.
Different Key Points for Both Tria Vs Ulike IPL Hair Removal
Here are the different key points for both Tria vs Ulike IPL hair removal -
Design, Display, and First Impression
When it came to the design, I was very happy to see the Ulike Air 3 purple IPL hair removal device. It's a beautiful purple color with some white accents, has a sleek shape, and a rectangular window. It looks a bit like a remote control, but it's designed to get rid of unwanted hair right from the roots.
Tria seems like a robot that can be a bit intimidating, but if you're into things that look high-tech, you might find it interesting. It has two fans on the sides that resemble big eyes and a screen on top that looks like the device's brain.
The Ulike Air 3 purple is small and easy to carry, while the Tria laser 4x is a bit heavier, but it's easier to hold. Still, I found the Ulike's design and first impression more appealing.
The Convenience of Use
The purple sapphire Air 3 phone needs to be plugged into the wall to work. It comes with a long cord and a good adapter, so you can use it easily in your bathroom for hair removal. Plus, you don't have to stress about the battery running out.
However, Tria Beauty 4x is a device that needs to be charged with a battery. You must charge it for at least 2 hours before using it. Also, make sure the battery is fully charged before taking it with you on a trip.
Finally, when you use Ulike, your skin needs to touch the device for it to start flashing. But, before you begin removing hair with Tria 4x, make sure to unlock it. So, don't get upset if your Tria isn't working; just unlock it, and you're good to go.
Comfort During Hair Removal Session
The special thing about Ulike Air 3 is its brand-new cooling system, which helps keep the device cool during IPL hair removal. It uses three important parts: a patented sapphire ice cooling technology, a VC liquid cooling solution, and a dual air duct heat dissipation system. These parts work together to make sure the intense light doesn't get too hot, so you can stay comfortable while using it.
Tria 4x uses a strong laser to remove hair at home. This laser can hurt your skin by burning hair cells and irritating them. It might feel painful or sting while removing hair, and you'll need to use a soothing gel to calm your red skin afterward.
Obvious Results in
The sapphire Air 3 needs 3 weeks to make your hair less by 63.64%, make your hair shorter by 88.7%, and reduce the amount of hair by 93.29%. If you use it a few more times, your unwanted hair will be gone from the roots.
Tria Beauty 4x is quite strong, but it needs 2 sessions in 1 month to reduce your hair regrowth by 60%. To get completely hair-free, you have to keep doing your hair removal treatments regularly for at least three months.
Results Last for
Ulike sapphire Air 3, which gives you hairless and smooth skin for 6 months and then requires more treatment, Tria provides a whole year of hairless skin after 8 or more initial hair removal sessions. With Tria, you won't have to worry about hair, cuts, or bumps for a year, making it the better choice.
Inside the Box
The Ulike Air 3 looks great, and its packaging has some cool stuff inside like the Ulike IPL device, safety goggles, a handy razor, and a pretty storage box. You'll like it!
But Tria 4x doesn't give you much in the box. They only include the Tria laser device and its charger.
FDA-Clearance and Dermatologist Recommendation
Both devices are the same. They have FDA clearance, with Tria being the first home laser device to get it. Dermatologists also recommend both devices for effective semi-permanent hair removal.
Price and Need of Replacing the Device
The Sapphire Air 3 Purple Hair Removal Handset with everything it comes with costs $299. It has unlimited flashes, so it can last for many years.
In contrast, the Tria Beauty 4x Laser Device costs $499 and has 90,000 flashes before you have to change the battery. This means it only lasts for 2-3 years. Tria isn't as generous in this aspect.

Personal Result
After using both Tria and Ulike IPL hair removal devices. I prefer using Ulike the most because of its benefits and results. Both devices have their good points. However, I found the Air 3 more easy to handle as it’s lightweight. If I consider the comfort during hair removal, I will say that The Ulike Air 3 stands out as it has a cooling system. Also, Ulike is cheaper and lasts longer with unlimited flashes.
Here are the week-by-week results of me using Ulike Air 3 -
Week 1: In the first week, I wasn't sure if the device would work. I used it 3 times, following the instructions. At first, I tried it on my hand to test if I felt skin irritation but I didn’t. In the very 1st week, it took me 10 minutes to perform a whole-body session.
Week 2: I didn't see any change in my hair, and I felt a bit discouraged. I used the device only 2 times this week instead of 3 because I was busy. It took me the same amount of time as the 1st week.
Week 3: I used the device 3 times this week as recommended. I hoped it would finally work. This week, I finished the session in less than 10 minutes.
Week 4: In the 4th week, I saw some results, and my hair started growing less. I reduced the sessions to 2 times a week from now on.
Week 5: I continued with the same routine as the 4th week, and my hair follicles started to shrink, which made me happy.
Week 6: I completed 2 sessions in the 6th week. After 4-6 weeks of using the device, my hair roots began to fall out. I was excited to share my review soon.
Week 7: I started using the device once a week to maintain hair removal. There were hardly any hairs left in my armpit in the 7th week.
Week 8: I finally achieved the permanent hair removal I wanted. Now, I only use the device occasionally to maintain the results.
When I used the Ulike Air 3 for hair removal, I never felt any kind of skin irritation. The ice-cooling technology of Ulike is very comfortable. Also, I have got my desired result within the promised duration. However, with Tria, I felt skin irritation and burning. In addition, I didn’t get my expected results in the given time. The Tria device was very tough to carry as it was heavy. So, I highly recommend the Ulike Air 3 to anyone with hair issues.
Conclusion
In this article, I have shared my real experience with two popular ones: Ulike Sapphire Air 3 and Tria Beauty's Hair Removal Laser 4X. Achieving effective and comfortable hair removal is essential, and based on my personal experience, the Ulike Air 3 IPL device stands out as the superior choice compared to Tria. With its lightweight design, cooling technology, faster results, and longer-lasting performance, Ulike is the best option for hassle-free, at-home hair removal.
