My review of Azul Skin Health Crepe Doctor
By Carla Snuggs
If you have thin and finely wrinkled skin on your décolletage, upper arms, knees, or hands, this is what is referred to as crepey skin. Crepey skin is most often associated with photoaging (though for hands, it can indicate harsh washing) and excessive weight loss. I’ve been using Azul Skin Health Crepe Doctor. Scroll down to see my review and how I’m using it to help stave off crepey skin.
I tapped Brandy Searcy, pharmaceutical formulation development scientist and self-proclaimed health geek to help understand what causes crepey skin and how to treat or prevent it. For 12+ years, she's been developing all-in-one products for a simple skincare routine and started Rain Organica started in 2020.
Searcy says Crepey skin is due to 2 primary reasons:
1) Damage to the collagen and elastin (structural components) of the dermal skin layer
2) Repeated stripping of skin's natural oils and fats, which are necessary for the integrity of the cellular membrane and also the extracellular spaces between skin cells. Ceramides and other fat soluble molecules are necessary to bind water within the skin, so when these are continually stripped day in and day out, the skin struggles to retain adequate moisture levels resulting in crepey skin.
How to Treat Crepey Skin
To treat crepey skin,Searcy recommends treatments that promote collagen synthesis, like microneedling, which can be beneficial. Choosing a gentle non-stripping cleanser such as a very mild (superfatted) artisan bar soap or gentle facial cleanser for your hands coupled with cool water and focusing on cleansing your palms can spare the backs of your hands from extensive stripping.
Using a moisturizer rich in essential fatty acids can help with cellular repair. And, look for a moisturizer with vitamin C, which helps with collagen synthesis in your body.
I’d like to throw in – try Azul Skin Health’s Crepe Doctor

My thoughts: When it comes to crepey skin, I had to really inspect my skin and I have found a bit on my hands and neck. I can certainly say that as I am aging and spending more time in the sun since California is now fully reopened and it’s summer, I definitely don’t want it to increase. The areas that I am concerned about are my hands and my neck because they are often the tell-tale signs of aging.
Crepe Doctor is SO moisturizing and has improved the feel of the skin on my hands and neck. I apply to my neck, décolletage, legs, arms and hands daily and massage until absorbed. I also use it with a derma roller - I highly recommend that. I feel like that moisture is so locked in, so I feel wildly hydrated without the greasy feel.
I am going to recommend Crepe Doctor if you’re experiencing crepey skin AND as a preventative skin treatment. Your skin will feel tightened and firmed which is something that can decrease as we age. I will absolutely recommend it for your hands as we are washing so much more due to the virus. As always, I love my Azul Skin Health products because they are clean AND effective. Great price point as well at $48. Shop: Azul Skin Health Crepe Doctor
