We all just want the “I woke up like this” glow every morning, and sometimes during change of season it’s a bit hard for our skin to adapt. Luckily there are some steps we can take and ingredients we can incorporate to help our skin look and feel our best even with this transition.
Here are some tips to get glowing skin that’ll make everyone think you are a walking, real life Instagram filter!
- Double cleanse in the evenings
Double cleansing has become more popular in recent years, and many find it to be the missing piece to their skincare routine. Even if you are applying all the best and tailored products onto your skin and taking care of your internal health, if you are not properly removing buildup, sunscreen and any makeup before these skincare products, you won’t be getting the results that you want! A double cleanse is often done with an oil-based cleanser first to do the first step of ‘removal’ and a targeted cleanser as the second step for the typical ‘cleanse’.
- Try using natural products
Natural products are effective and do not contain harmful ingredients that can impact your skins health! Most of the natural skincare brands are found in Europe and you can try Scandinavian/Icelandic brands like Blue Lagoon products for lackluster toned skin for example, to begin your journey to perfect skin and extra oomph to your routine.
- Exfoliation is key
Exfoliation helps to remove dead skin cells, pollution and buildup on the skin and results in glowing skin! If you over-exfoliate, however, it can strip the skin and cause irritation, dehydrated skin and sensitive skin so it is important to use a gentle exfoliant and not overdo it.
- Vitamin C
Vitamin C is an antioxidant that helps to brighten the skin and give you that glow. It is included in many treatments such as serums and can be the step that transforms your skin, you just have to give it at least 6 weeks to notice a visible difference.
- Eat more veggies
We have all heard how important vegetables are, but if you need extra reason to incorporate more vegetables and particularly leafy greens in your diet, do it for your skin!
- Hydrate!!!
No matter how much you hydrate externally, if you are not properly hydrated internally, your skin will show it! A general rule of thumb is to drink eight 8oz glasses of water a day, but this can fluctuate depending on your body’s specific needs, caffeine consumption, and more. If you have a hard time drinking enough water during the day or you don’t like water, you can try adding fresh lemon, lime, mint, or some other natural ingredient to your water to make it more doable and exciting.
