What type of body moisturizer is right for you?
By Carla Snuggs
Hello, winter! Even in Southern California, where it seems like we don’t have the four seasons, it has been chilly, windy and damp. During winter months especially, my skin is cracked and dry from using indoor heaters, windy days and wearing layers of clothing. It has been a struggle to keep my skin moisturized.
I recently learned the difference between how to keep my body moisturized. Between body oils body butter and body lotion, I was unsure how to really stay moisturized and repair my skin. Azul Skin Health to rescue! Azul sent out their Revitalizing Body Oil and Whipped Body Butter.
I reached out to Davina Ramkissoon, Wellbeing Director at Zevo Health, to learn the difference between body oils, body butter, body lotion.
Body oils closely mirror the natural oils in our skin and it's the most soothing of the moisturizer options. Body oils are highly concentrated and enhance the quality of your skin. After showering, apply body oil on damp skin for the ultimate hydrator.
Body lotions on the other hand, are more easily absorbed by our skin because it has a high water content. It's designed for light-weight moisturizing. It's perfect for humid and hot weather as it absorbs quickly and does not sit on your skin.
Body butters are denser and are easily and are designed not just to nourish but to treat and repair dry skin such as hands and joint areas. They don't contain water and they have thicker consistency than lotions.
Determine your skin type and use the product that addresses your concern or determine when you will use them. For example, for an everyday moisturizer, a body lotion may be your best bet. Body butters are also useful during winter months when your skin is cracked and dry.
I definitely needed an oil to soothe and hydrate my skin as well as treat and repair dry areas, so body oils and body butters are right for me.

My thoughts: I love slathering this all over my body at night, but specifically my thighs. I haven’t really seen any reduction in cellulite just yet, but even just after 2 weeks of use in combination with the Revitalizing Body Oil, I’ve seen slight lightening of stretch marks on my upper thighs and some tightening. I will circle back to update after I’ve used it for a month. Also, I have been applying it to the rough patches on my elbows and knees and these areas where I need lots of loving care. It is super hydrating and my skin is healing!
