Having a date night doesn’t have to mean a grand gesture or a big night out. Here are some at-home date ideas that will let you show your love and appreciation for each other without having to leave the house.
Setting the Tone
Before you plan your date, it’s a good idea to decide between you whether it will be a more relaxed or formal affair so that you can both decide what to wear and know what to expect. This will avoid the awkwardness of one of you getting ready to snuggle up on the sofa in your favourite pj's while the other is dressed to impress! Whatever you decide, wearing a matching lingerie set underneath will boost your confidence and make you feel good during your at-home date.
Game Night
Whether it’s online gaming, a virtual quiz, or classic board games, a gaming night is a great way to have a laugh as a couple and introduce a bit of healthy competition to your relationship. It can also improve your communication skills and help you get to know each other better too.
Spa Night
What better way to show your appreciation for each other than spending an evening indulging and relaxing in luxurious treatments in the comfort of your own home? Set the scene with low lighting, scented candles, and relaxing music. Slip on a freshly-washed bathrobe and a pair of comfy slippers then pop on a facemask and sit back and relax with a homemade cocktail or herbal tea. You could also invest in some good-quality massage oil and take it in turns to give each other a relaxing massage.
Cook up a Storm
Cooking a meal together is another great way to boost communication and feel as though you’re working together as a team. It can also make cooking more fun and feel more like a way to spend quality time together rather than just another daily task to get through. Alternatively, you could take it in turns and have one person cook one night and the other the next, to give each of you the chance to show off your culinary skills or kick back and relax knowing that dinner is taken care of. Depending on the season, you could prepare a summer picnic to have in the garden or your local park or during the colder winter months, cook something hearty and filling to be eaten at the table over candlelight.
Movie Night
There’s nothing wrong with a classic and movie night is the original date idea. Spend time making a list of your favourite films, work your way through all those must-see movies or choose a new TV series to binge-watch together. This is a great way to de-stress after a long day with no pressure on either of you. You can put on your comfiest clothes, grab a blanket and some popcorn and just relax and enjoy each other’s company. Plus, it will give you something to talk about afterwards. You could even make it a regular feature and have a movie night every week, taking it in turns to pick the film so that it’s fair, of course!
