Philadelphia has been called the “City of Brotherly Love,” but what about romantic love?
Maybe you’re looking for love in unfamiliar environs after a long hunt for Philadelphia houses for sale. Or maybe you’re a longtime Philadelphia local in search of some fresh ideas for your next night out. Whatever the case, I’m here to help.
Here are four fun date ideas sure to help you make a lasting impression:
Take a Stroll and See Unique Art During First Fridays
A favorite of all Philadelphia residents during the warmer months, First Fridays transform the city’s streets into a sprawling outdoor museum wherein both famous and independent display their work and local galleries stay open late. Take a leisurely stroll together to take in the vivid colors and creative visions, listen to some live music, enjoy street food from a variety of diverse vendors, and maybe end the night by picking up a souvenir for yourself, or a gift for that special someone.
Let Your Freak Flag Fly at the Famed Mütter Museum
Philadelphia’s notoriously weird Mütter Museum might not exactly be a “normal” date night destination, but normal is overrated anyway. Those with a taste for all things strange and unusual will be hard-pressed to find a stranger or more unusual attraction than this one-of-a-kind museum. Exhibits include the tallest human skeleton in North America, real preserved slices of Albert Einstein’s brain preserved in a jar, a plaster torso cast from 18th-century conjoined twins, and a collection of over 139 human skulls.
Get a Helping Hand from Your Own Private Bookstore
Love to read? Imagine spending an evening with a fellow bibliophile locked away in your own private bookstore, browsing rare volumes, sharing your favorite passages, and even sharing a romantic dinner for two? Not only does The Head and the Hand bookstore provide just such an experience, but it also provides complimentary wine, allows you to bring your own food, and best of all, lets you go home with free and reduced-priced books. Pure poetry, in more ways than one.
Soar Across the PA Countryside in a Hot Air Balloon
When many people think of Philadelphia, they think of towering skyscrapers and busy streets. In reality, the greater Philadelphia area is home to some of the most scenic landscapes in Pennsylvania. The surrounding Chester/Lancaster/Bucks county countryside is a great place to enjoy an outdoor picnic or hiking trip. Even better, though, is taking in all that natural beauty from high up, riding the wind with the help of the US Hot Air Balloon Team, whose website includes a whole section dedicated to helping you find romance in the sky.
