Eco-Friendly lifestyle products for Earth Day

Every April, we are reminded about how they can make great lifestyle choices in honor of Earth Day. It’s really important to search for lifestyle products with natural elements as well as lifestyle products that support our environment. Here some of my favorite Earth Day lifestyle products to consider.

Just Breathe: Easy Steam Treatment

Fill your bathroom sink or a bowl with steamy, hot water. Add a drop each of Eucalyptus, Peppermint, Lemon, and Lavender essential oils. Take deep, slow breaths of the steam. Drape a towel over your head to help keep the steam in.

Scalp Revitalizer

Mix 2 drops each of Lemon, Peppermint, and Lavender essential oils with 1oz. of base oil (Olive, Almond, or Argan are all lovely). Massage into scalp and allow to soak in 15 minutes to overnight). Shampoo and condition as usual and enjoy a healthier scalp.

Sun Baked Skin Soother

Keep a bottle of Aloe Vera Gel mixed with several drops of Lavender essential oil in the fridge. This mixture is the best for sun-baked skin.

Sleeeeep

Just add 2 drops of Lavender essential oil under your pillow and lights out.

Clear Breathing Chest Rub

Mix 4-6 drops of Eucalyptus essential oil with 1oz. of Olive Oil and massage into your chest to help ease breathing.

Vacuum Deodorizer

Drop several drops of any essential oil onto a cotton ball and vacuum the cotton ball up. Viola! Your vacuum smells amazing and so does the air that cycles through it.

Turn Your Shower into a Spa

Turn hot water on and put 3-4 drops of your favorite essential oil on the shower floor. In the winter I like to use our everyone™ eucalyptus essential oil, and in the summer my favorite is everyone™ peppermint.

Tone Your Skin: Easy Facial Toner

Mix 3 drops each of Rose Geranium and Sweet Orange essential oils with 1oz. Aloe Vera Gel (dry skin) or Witch Hazel (oily skin). Apply to clean skin with a cotton ball. Rinse, pat dry and enjoy clean, clear skin.

Easy Room Spray

Mix equal parts distilled water and vodka (yes, vodka!) in a 12oz. spray bottle and add 12-20 drops of your favorite essential oils. I like using our everyone™ Fresh Blend or 5 drops each of Pine, Cedarwood, and Juniper essential oils.

Sweet Dreams: Pillow and Linens Spray

Mix 12oz. distilled water and 20 drops Lavender essential oil in a spray bottle. Use it to mist your linens and bedding.

Eco-Friendly Wines

In celebration of Earth Day on Saturday, April 22nd, let’s toast to nature with organic wines that tout natural compounds in place of chemicals that encourage sustainable sipping.

Banfi Wines

Upgrade those go-to varietals to organic choices such as Natura Chardonnay, a dry white wine with citrus aromas of grapefruit an lime blend with notes of pineapple or Natura Rosé, a bright light pink varietal with fruity aromas. Both work well as a complement to hors d’oeuvres or light dishes – what better way to celebrate Earth Day than with a picnic outside?

Wines of Chile

Chile’s Atacama Desert isn’t just a hotspot because of its status as the world’s driest desert. It is also known for its unique terroir at the edge of extreme winemaking. While Chilean viticulturists have learned how to interact with such naturally extreme terrain, more and more winemakers throughout other regions of Chile and beyond have had to adapt to unnaturally drier, warmer climates not because of extreme geography, but as a result of global warming. Several Chilean winemakers are approaching this issue head-on by dry farming, meaning they don’t irrigate their vines.

At first dry farming might seem as counter intuitive as 'jumbo shrimp' but the concept is quite old and effective. Lack of irrigation forces vine roots to grow down and find water deep in the soil. Stressing the vines produces grapes with fuller, richer flavors (mom was right that what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger - it applies to vines, too). Climate change is real no matter what the naysayers say. Here are two amazing wines to try to support the cause:
