The Salma Hayek Technique: How to Become Instantly More Beautiful
by Christy Whitman
Ah, the things we only learn through time and experience!
Thankfully, I now know that the energy, intention, and quality of attention that I bring to any given situation is vastly more influential than what I do, what I say, or how I look. I know also that my energy, intention and the quality of my attention actually informs and affects the outcomes I produce in virtually every aspect of my life – including my relationships with others, the level of fulfillment I experience in my work, and even the way I look and feel in my body.
While this understanding now lives in every fiber of my being, this was not always the case!
About fifteen years ago, when I was just beginning to learn about the universal laws that guide the process of effortlessly magnetizing our desires, I was unfulfilled in a lot of areas of my life. One prime area of discontent was in relation to my body. Although I have now created my ideal body (and support others in creating theirs), at that time, I was thirty pounds overweight and very much out of shape – more so than I’d ever been. I had just started dating a guy I was really interested in and was desperate to lose the weight, but nothing I tried shaved off even a single pound.
One day while standing in the checkout line at the grocery store (where I had gone to stock up on an even more limited selection of proteins and vegetables), I noticed the beautiful actress, Salma Hayek, on the cover of a magazine. I had always admired the fact that she had the exact body that I wanted and hadn’t been able to create, despite all my effort. I bought the magazine and looked at her pictures again later that evening. I began thinking about the principles I was studying at the time – and specifically the one I’m sharing with you now – that because the universe is holographic, the experiences felt by one are accessible to all. I started to imagine what it would feel like to live in a body like Salma’s, and I asked to become open to receive her energy.
My body, which usually felt heavy, dense, and stiff, began to feel more fluid and open. The more I connected with the essence of this modern-day Goddess, the more this energy began to run through my body. The way I thought of myself in relation to the extra weight I was carrying started to shift. Where I had previously thought of myself as struggling to pull a heavy weight uphill, and never reaching the top, I now felt lightness and ease – the essence of freedom that is part of my very soul. In that moment, my body actually felt lighter – not because I had worked hard to burn the 3,500 calories it takes to lose a pound, but because I tapped into the quality of lightness that is a part of my very being.
I had always thought I wanted to lose weight so I would have the ability to wear cuter clothes or be more attractive to men. What I discovered from this process is that beneath all of that, what I really was seeking was the feeling of freedom. As I allowed that feeling, the essence of my desire, to become my new point of attraction, new thoughts, values, actions and beliefs became accessible that helped me to create it. I no longer focused on limiting food intake, but on making choices – in clothing, in food, in exercise – that evoked within me the feeling of being free. That essence feeling led me, gradually but steadily, toward creating the body I always wanted – and always knew I was capable of having.
Of course, there is no way of knowing whether the information and energy I accessed that night actually came from Salma Hayek – but where it comes from doesn’t matter. What matters is that I allowed the energy I recognized in this particular form to become a conduit through which greater well-being could flow. She just happened to be the archetype that showed up for me at the moment I was ready to create a breakthrough in the area of my weight. As soon as she caught my eye on the cover of that magazine, I felt at my very core that she embodied the fulfillment of my desire.
Here’s how you can put the “Selma Hayek” technique to use to become instantly more beautiful:
1) Identify an aspect of your physical beauty that you would like to enhance. Is it your softness and receptivity? Your radiance? Your sensuality or sexual energy? Once you’ve identified the particular quality, call forth the intention to embody it. Close your eyes and imagine breathing in this energy, noticing how you feel as you do.
2) Next, identify a female archetype – real or mythological, known to you or unknown – who embodies the essence of the feeling you have just identified. Imagine aligning yourself with her in every way – allowing yourself to move like she moves; think like she thinks, and to relate to others in the way that she does. As you harmonize yourself with this energy, allow it to shift your vibration and inform your thoughts.
3) From this new energetic set point, become aware of any new choices or actions you are inspired to take – and connect with this new, beautiful as you take them.
The process of connecting with a universal archetype of beauty enables us to transcend our own personal limitations, and step directly into the energy of what we desire. Try it!
