How to Get the Best Volume out of Your Hair

I do know that part of it is technique and part of it is the products you use. I have some great finishing products from Lisap USA, but I need help with my technique. I tapped Vincent de Marco, an LA-based, celebrity hair stylist, and owner of Vincent Hair Artistry Hair to help us get the best volume of out of our hair:

How to Get Great Volume Step by Step

1. The best way to add volume to your hair is to choose a volumizing shampoo and conditioner

2.  Next, you'll want to find a mousse the best suits your hair type. When applying mousse to achieve volume you only need the size of an egg to disperse and distribute the mousse through the root and no more than three inches from the top of the head, as that where you’ll want volume.

3.  After placing the mousse near the root, with palms and fingers, it’s best to use a wet brush to distribute the mousse evenly to the end,  that way you'll get a more professional result.

4.  Begin drying your hair immediately. If you wait too long to start drying your hair, the mousse will get sticky and difficult to brush through. Start drying your hair at the root. The best way to increase volume, as you begin to dry the roots, is to bend over and hang your head upside down This allows gravity to pull your hair upward as you point the dryer toward your  roots. As you work to dry the roots, use your fingers as a roller, twisting the hair in a U-turn around the intersections of your fingers by blowing the opposite way you pull the hair this to create volume.

5. Stand back up (before you get dizzy) and finish the rest of the hair drying,

6.  Finish the style by drying the ends.  If you blow the ends around your fingers you can also create a lofty finish.

7.  Use cold air blowing upwards at the end and twirling the blow dryer like an egg beater, the volumizing effect of the blow dryer without a director can also get the hair to fluff up.

8.  Finally use both hands in a claw like gesture to push your route upward as it cools while cooling this helps to set the hairstyle in a volumize position.

9. Make sure your hair is completely dry before you style.

10. To style use a finishing product. Currently, I am loving Lisap Lisynet hairsprays.
