We love spring, the weather starts to get warmer, shades get brighter and the days get slightly longer which is why spring fashion is top tier. So how can you make your wardrobe feel like spring all year round?
Here are a few ways that you can freshen up your wardrobe with a touch of spring even on the dreariest of days.
Is your wardrobe ready for a spring clean?
Before any wardrobe overhaul takes place, we always recommend getting rid of the items you no longer use or wear. This will also indirectly give you those spring vibes as we all love a good clearout in the spring months.
Have one too many Chanel bags in your collection? (don’t worry we’re guilty too), you could consider selling one on consignment and use the funds to add some statement spring pieces to your wardrobe. Chanel bags increase in price twice per year so if you’ve looked after it, you may even be able to make a profit depending on how sought after the bag is.
Once you’ve finished your clearout, here are some great items we recommend adding to your wardrobe.
Pops of pastel
Pastel shades are the go-to spring trend no matter the year which is why by choosing accessories such as handbags, scarves and jewellery, you can add a touch of spring to your outfit with minimal effort. For a 2021 spring vibe, you could even include some neon, or, better yet, neon enamel as that was huge this season and is expected to be big for 2022 too with many ready to wear fashion collections showcasing vibrant pops of colour. You can also include the brighter shades of your colour palette in the form of shirts or jackets.
Lightweight layers
Spring weather is very interchangeable which means you usually have to dress for four seasons in a day, this makes layering a staple look of spring. But you can also layer at any time of year and channel that spring energy. Winter is great for layering as it’ll keep you warmer. If it’s the height of summer, opt for lightweight breathable items. Also, we know what the great British summer can be like sometimes, so statement items like an oversized denim jacket is a perfect way to add layers to your collection. As soon as that sun sets, things tend to get a little chilly anyway.
Keep a strong neutral capsule collection in rotation
The good thing about neutrals is, they can be worn at any time of year. You can build a solid capsule collection too from as little as 10 items, although opinions do vary. Then, all you need to do is dress them up and down accordingly. Mix and match your favourites and use accessories to help transform the look. Different shoes and a handbag can completely change the outfit and is perfect for day to night transitions.
Opt for midi-length items
The interchangeable weather of spring means that midi length clothing is perfect and that makes it a great staple for other seasons too that’ll still feel spring-like. You can opt for lighter fabric skirts and trousers in the summer months and something a little thicker during winter. On the surface of things, people won’t notice the difference unless they’re up close.
Jumpers and skirts
Jumpers and skirts are the perfect spring combo, but there are ways you can pull this look off in the dead of winter too; just add some over the knee boots and some tights if you need them. Your jumper can change as the seasons do. In winter, opt for chunky knitwear, in summer go for some light cashmere. If it’s autumn and it’s been raining for days simply add a long waterproof coat to finish the outfit; it’s also the perfect layering accessory too. Try to stick with the neutral shades for your jumper and that way it can be worn in both summer and winter months whilst still being on-trend.
