Refresh Your Bedroom {Under $100}

Hey, beauties! It's almost the end of summer and as we head into fall, it's time to think about refreshing our decor. Once again, the fabulous Liz Toombs, C.I.D., President & Owner, Polka Dots & Rosebuds Interiors, give us easy ways to refresh your bedroom for under $100 or less. Liz suggests painting, updating your accents or new artwork.  Any one of these changes can create an impact on their own, so implementing all of them would completely transform a space. For smaller budgets, prioritize the changes you want to make and work your way through the list as money allows.

Paint

When it comes to paint colors for the bedroom, think soft and warm. A shade of beige for your bedroom is a classic choice as long as you stay away from anything too bland or dry, otherwise known as “builder beiges”. One great color we like to use for this is Balanced Beige by Sherwin Williams. You don't have to worry about this shade going out of style or being a fading trend - it is truly a classic look.

I also like “greige” paint color (gray and beige combined). This combines the popularity and on-trend gray with the classic and timeless beige. A great go-to greige is Amazing Gray from Sherwin Williams.

To keep under $100, you’ll need to do the painting yourself.

Update accents

Add warmth and a cozy feeling to your bedroom simply by filling the room with things that make you happy and are specific to your likes. This can be anything from photos in frames of the people you love, to trinkets that have sentimental value.

Rearrange your accessories. Clear everything off shelves and tables and start again. Rework the items you have grouped together and where you place them. When you’re finished, your space will have a fresh look.

Pillows! Shams and throw pillows are a major part of creating a luxurious bedroom. You can take white shams and have them monogrammed with large letters to dress up your bed. Layer those with smaller toss pillows and a bolster with a bold pattern to complete your bed. Mixing custom pillows with inexpensive ones makes the project easy on the wallet and on the eyes. The average cost of a project like this is $100.

Artwork

Another inexpensive way to update your bedroom is with artwork. Etsy.com is a great resource for personalized pieces that show your city or state, family names and monograms.

Group your artwork. Pictures and artwork are much more impactful when clustered together on one wall versus spread out on every wall.  There are many ways to group things to create visual interest, and you can even use groupings to hide unsightly elements like a thermostat.  Don’t be afraid to mix various sized items together if it makes sense.
